The whole night

After two months, our new baby has slept through her first night without waking. Sadly, I hadn’t been able to get to sleep until midnight so I reach a whole six hours myself. Still, it’s good progress, and at only two months, it’s unexpected. Yesterday, I had my first longsword sparring session. The bruises growing on my right shoulder tell me just how out of practise I am. And yet, I had a tonne of fun. I’d go and do another round today if I could. Instead the plan is a morning walk.

Writing wise, I’ve been working on a project that I’d started in 2018. There’s a 130k words done, but the story needs splitting into novels, adding a bunch of chapters and carving the detail out of the marble block I’d produced. This work will probably be released as a trilogy if it comes together how I expect.

What genre? A variation on fantasy. It’s a bit of a palette cleanser that is giving me time to explore ideas for sequels.

I hope your New Years is full of sleep and happiness.
